Michael E. Corrigan is the Founder and Chairman of Corrigan & Company. Mr. Corrigan received his MBA with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Washington in 1978. He first joined the firm of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith, where he held positions in sales, investment banking and sales management. He left Merrill Lynch to help found Great Northern Insured Annuity Corporation (GNA), a start-up life insurance company that built its business around the sale of insurance products through financial institutions. At GNA, Mr. Corrigan was responsible for product distribution and served on the company’s Investment Committee. GNA grew to be a company with two billion dollars in assets. Thereafter, he served as President of GFC Securities Corporation, a subsidiary of Beverly Hills-based Gibraltar Financial Corporation. Gibraltar was a twelve-billion dollar company, and Mr. Corrigan was responsible for it’s retail sales operations as well as the management of it’s extensive securities portfolio. After several years in Los Angeles, he joined Protective Life Corporation to assist the company in a major strategic redirection. As the senior officer responsible for all investment, product design, and sales, Mr. Corrigan oversaw a fourfold increase in the Company’s asset base and profitability. His efforts included the oversight of a number of acquisitions, the creation of many new products including the company’s first registered securities products and the complete overhaul of the company’s senior management compensation system. Mr. Corrigan left Protective Life to satisfy a lifelong goal to become an entrepreneur  He purchased the investment affiliate of a failed Savings and Loan based in Santa Barbara, CA and restored this company to profitability. Mr. Corrigan became involved with the specialty market of bank-owned life insurance (BOLI) in 1995. At that time, there were only two firms in this business and only one had activities in the Western United States. Seeing an opportunity, his firm become the Western Regional Affiliate of Atlanta-based Benmark (now Renaissance Bank Advisors). Corrigan & Company has grown to be one of the largest firms of its kind and services over $1.5 billion in life insurance cash values from the policies the firm has sold over the years. For the past decade, Mr. Corrigan has been the top sales agent nationwide for each of the following life insurance companies: Northwestern Mutual Life, New York Life, Massachusetts Mutual Life, Beneficial Life, Transamerica Life and ING Southland Life Insurance. When not at the office, Michael can be found enjoying time at home with his large family or riding his horse in the back country of Santa Barbara. He also derives great joy from his experience as a part-time graduate student at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, the Episcopal Church’s Seminary in Berkeley CA.
